Fuel flexibility for smart energy carriers in novel combustion system
Marco is a PhD candidate at ATM ULB. His main research focuses on
numerical and experimental analysis of different energy carriers in novel
combustion system, such as MILD combustion to assure flexibility and low
pollutant emissions.
The experimental campaign will be carried out on a 30 kW MILD burner designed by WS
at available at the department. Different fuels will be tested, such as NG, syngas, coke oven gas.
The adopted measurement techniques mainly based on FTIR analysis and OH* chemiluminescence images.
The numerical approach instead, will be based on reduction of the chemical kinetic mechanism using
Direct Relation Graph (DRG) and on the validation of the OH* mechanism.
Marco holds a degree in Energy Engineering from Università di Pisa, Italy.
Afterwords, he spent one year at VKI for the Diploma Course (DC), specializing in
turbulent flows and atmospheric boundary layer (ABL). He finally joined the BURN team
in October 2015.
