Giulia studied chemical engineering at “Università di Napoli Federico II” and followed numerous courses related to flue gas treatment and pollution during both her Bachelor and Master degrees. For her Master’s thesis, she worked on an experimental research project related to soot particle emissions from combustion. Following her studies, she worked for six months at ALA (Advanced Logistics for Aerospace) as part of their management internship programme. She is now doing a PhD thesis at VUB under the supervision of Pr. Blondeau in the field of clean heat and power production. She is carrying out a research project on poisoning and deactivation mechanisms of DeNOx catalysts for large scale industrial applications. She works together with an industrial partner on both experimental and modelling aspects of these issues, and targets operational outcomes to increase the long term efficiency of DeNOx systems in the industry.
